Do you have any information on a Dr. W. S. Webb in Rush or Decatur Co., IN at the end of the 19th century?
I have become aware that a Dr. W. S. Webb was examined by a Special Examiner for the Dept of Interior (war records), Rushville, IN, in 1893-94 as to the circumstances of death of my g grandfather, Levi Fraser Bennington, on behalf of his widow's claim for military pension. These special examiners tended were well placed around in counties as far as I can make out.
I am trying to determine if Dr. Webb practiced in Rush Co., or possibly Decatur Co.I am trying to locate the grave of my g grandfather (DOD April 1882), his daughter, Margaret, and some other younger children. It is possible they were buried in Lower Union Cemetery near Clarksburg or Sandusky, Decatur Co., IN, which is near the Rush Co. line, where I entered him as a strong possibility; still I am not certain.
I am now wondering if it was that Dr. Webb was his doctor in 1882, and Dr. Webb practiced in Rush Co., perhaps my g grandfather's family resided in Rush Co. then.He farmed but I don't think he owned his own land then.He may have farmed for someone else, possibly the Doggett family whose members had farms around northern Decatur Co., possibly into Rush Co.
If I could identify where Dr. Webb practiced I might better have an idea where my ancestral family resided in 1882.Thank you for any assistance.
