Charity Belle Cook b ca 1830 in Rush Co IN married William Houston on the 7 Nov 1849 in Rush Co IN. William’s sister, Sarah Houston, married Daniel Neff on the same day. William and Sarah Houston were children of John M and Mary Hall Houston. Charity Cook was the daughter of Henry and Jane Susan Neff Cook.
William and Charity Houston had 5 children: Amanda b 1851, Mary b 1853, Sarah b 1855, Henry b 1857 and William b 1859. I have not traced any more information on these children.
William and Charity are listed on the 1850 and 1860 census of Rush Co. IN, the 1870 census of Henry Co., IN. William died before the 1880 census as Charity is found in Centerville twp., Wayne Co., IN listed as widow. On 5 May 1881, in Wayne Co. Charity married James W. Nichols.
Charity and James are found on the 1900 census of Wayne Co., IN and also in the household is Henry Cook, age 94 and relationship states “father in law”. (as the head of house is James Nichols, would mean Charity is Henry’s dau). James Nichols died 19 July 1904, Charity Nichols is found on the 1910 census of Wayne Co., IN listed as widowed. She is not found on the 1920 census.
I would like to correspond with any cousins I may have.
Sharon
