Hi Arlene. Not sure how much help I'll be, I'll be glad to try. Most of what I have on Patterson/Pattison begins with Beverly Patterson (b abt 1836 in Indiana, d 19 Jun 1886, Grant County). He married into the Hungerford clan in Rush in 1860, marrying Harriet Hungerford, daughter of Calvin and Eleanor (Sefton) Hungerford. From the 1850 census of Washington Twp in Rush Co, I have Beverly's parents as John and Elizabeth. John is aged 48 from Kentucky, and Elizabeth is aged 44 from (P)ennsylvania. That is all I have on Beverly's lineage unfortunately. I would like to have more, especially as I'm interested in the spelling variation of the surname.
I do have some research on the descendants of Beverly and Harriet, who settled in Grant County. Most (if not all) of their decendants wound up spelling their name Pattison, however it is spelled Patterson on the 1877 Grant County map of Liberty Township. I also found a reference to Beverly Patterson in the published history of Rush County. I believe that is the Centennial History. If you have any connections, I would be glad to know of them. I have been stymied by trying to search for "John Patterson".
