Samuel McDonald was the son of Daniel McDonald and Catherine Logan. The family history compiled by Daniel McDonald (a grandson of Daniel & Catherine)lists children Robert, Thomas, Alice, John, and Anna. Additionally, there is an unnamed infant son who died September 2, 1848 and is buried in the Bucklew/McDonald Cemetery in Marshall County, Indiana. Eliza Porter also died in September1848 and is buried in the Bucklew/McDonald Cemetery but no longer has a tombstone in the cemetery.

Eliza Porter was the daughter of Robert Peter Porter and Margaret McDanald. The William Porter family history compiled in 1937 lists children Robert, Thomas, Rebecca, and Margaret.

Samuel McDonald and Eliza Porter moved from Rush County to Marshall County, Indiana in 1836/1837. Rebecca McDonald married George Alleman in Marshall County but had no children. Robert and Thomas McDonald both married and had children and also lived in Marshall County.

Jim
