My gg-grandfather was TUCKER, his wife (my gg-grandmother) was McKAY. One of her sisters, which is not in my direct line, married HARTY.

The MaKAYs, TUCKERs, and HARTYs came to Oregon from Ripley County, IN via the Oregon trail in 1851 and 1852. I don't know for sure that they lived in Cross Plains, but given my family's connection with the Oregon trail always thought it was an interesting name for a town.
