I have had two responses to a request for a copy of the Union City Times article about the Johnson Family Reunion in 1904, but unfortunately only to request the date of the article. Both responders promised to try to get a copy. I do not know the publication date, but the reuniom was held on Sunday, August 7th. I presume 1904. Some years ago I was given an excerpt of the article, but I could not completely read it. Subsequently, I wrote for a copy but did not obtain one. No copy received as yet.

Additionally, I had a call from a Johnson descendant who provided the first new information about this Johnson Family whose patriarchs were Thomas & Mary (Rogers) Johnston/Johnson of Frederick County, MD. Their grandsons, John & Jacob Johnson were the ones being honored in 1904.
Thomas' father and mother are Henry & Margaret Johnstone.

The new information concerns Dr.Israel Johnson, son of Alexander & Catherine (Johnson) Johnson. Dr. Johnson died before 1870. His mother's mother is believed to be Widow Elizabeth (Whitacre) Johnson whose husband was Thomas Johnson, JR. John & Jacob are nephews of Thomas & Elizabeth. Thomas Junior died in 1806, and his wife, Elizabeth, and a dozen family members left Frederick County, MD, by wagon train for Montgomery County, OH. There near Dayton she bought a 70 acre tract to settle on.
Alexander Johnson may be the son of Thomas of Joseph who married Abigail Johnson, his first cousin. Joseph is the father of John & Jacob. The situation becomes a little more complicated by another Alexander Johnson who married Amanda Whitcomb in Montgomery County, OH.

This Frederick County,MD, Johnson Family lived in the Hawbottom section of the county. Thirty five descendants are buried in the Johnson Family Cemetery off Hawbottom Road. Other children of Thomas & Mary are Henry, Robert, Mary, & Martha. Henry & Thomas married Whitacres in NC. Robert married Bethany Knight in NC. Surnames associated with the Hawbottom Johnsons are Lamar, Thrasher, Schroyer, Hessong, Fuller, Coblentz, Wertenbaker, Whitacre, and Miller.

I still would like a complete copy of the Union City Times story.
