Hello Lew,
I would love to hear from you, there is information that we both can share with each other. The Hiatt family is a very prolific Quaker family in the States, as you may already know and the Hiatts have had a long standing in Randolph County, Indiana since the late 1700's.
There are many Hiatts and/or their descendants currently living in Randolph County, Indiana and the surrounding areas. I was born, raised and I'm currently living in this county. As I delve into my research into other surnames, I'm always stumbling onto new Hiatt members as well.
My connection to the Hiatt line goes like this: Lynn Blansett, Myself; my mother Marylin Delee Smith; Martha Bell Hiatt; Eleazor Hiatt, known as Azor, Jesse Hiatt, who's family bible that I own, Eli Hiatt who was raised by his grandfather Daniel Beals, Jesse Hiatt and finally our common ancestor Christopher Hiatt married to Elizebeth Mills.
I'm always on the search for new cousins and my goal is to have the Hiatts as up to date as possible. William Perry Johnson who wrote the Hiatt-Hiett Genealogy and Family History book gave us a great start at this. I think it would be wonderfully to keep up the work that he had already started up to date. Also you will find many Hiatt's listed in the Randolph County Indiana 1818-1990 book complied by the Randolph County Historical Society and the History of Randolph County, Indiana with Illustrations and
Biographical Sketches by E. Tucker, which most people refer to as the Tucker Book. This book has the history prior to the 1800's. Also I have a web site with The Family Tree Maker program the URL is: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/m/e/s/Lynn-E-Messina/http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/m/e/s/Lynn-E-Messina/.
As far as the Mills Family I haven't research them yet, although there are many of them within my family tree as well. I can say this with certainty that there are quite a few Mills families that currently resided in Randolph County. Whether they are related or not, who knows, I wouldn't be surprised.
I hope to hear from you soon, I would love to share Gedcom with you!
Sincerely Lynn
