I just recently tracked down my ggg grandfather John Lanham from Pulaski County Indiana. The 1860 Census shows he was born in Ohio around 1822. He is married to Catharine who was born around 1830 in either Virgiana or West Virginia. They had 4 chidren all born in Indiana, Mary(1852), Brooks (1854), Daniel(1856), David(1859). The 1870 census shows Catharine with Brooks, Daniel, and Ada May Lanam (b. 1864) and another child Mary Connor (age 11). Catharine was remarried to Hamilton McCay.

John purchased land in Pulaski County (under the name "Lanem") in 1853. Before that there is no record that I can find that he lived in Pulaski Co. John must have died between 1864-1870. I was thinking that maybe he might have died in the civil war. Family legend says that someone in our family was in the civil war.

Also, can anyone help me find his parents and where he came from in Ohio? I was thinking that Brooks might be a family name possibly his fathers? Any leads would be appreciated.
