John P & Sarah Williams - parents of Benjamin Franklin Williams
Posted by: Jayna Christopher (ID *****0316) Date: June 30, 2008 at 05:58:13

I'm looking for any information that can be offered on John P Williams and his wife Sarah.

The furthest back I can get on them is the Pipe Creek Township, Madison Indiana 1850 census which shows the following:

John P Williams, age 56, b. in NC
Sarah Williams, age 45, b. in Pennsylvania
Enoch Williams, age 17
William Williams, age 13
Leroy Williams, age 12
Rebecca Williams, age 11
Benjamin Williams, age 9

All of the children were born in Indiana.

I cannot find any of them on the 1860 or 1870 censuses, but I find Benjamin Franklin Williams and his wife Sarah Staley on the 1880 Harmony Township, Posey County, Indiana census with their son George Washington Williams.

Any help in finding the missing years of 1860 and 1870, as well as any additional information on John P Williams, would be greatly appreciated.

Just a note...there is another John P Williams of a different age, who is married to Martha. That is not the John P that I am looking for.

My family line is
John P Williams
Benjamin Franklin Williams, Sr.
Benjamin Franklin Williams, Jr.
Melvin Torrence "Churn" Williams

Thanks.
