Jackson & Wilson in Owen, Monroe, Brown from KY

There are too many Jacksons in Monroe, Owen, and Brown Counties in Indiana! I think many are related to either Jacob and Mary (DeMoss) Jackson or his brother William and Elizabeth (DeMoss) Jackson. Owen Co (formed 1819) and Monroe Co. (formed 1818) are neighboring counties; Brown Co. was formed from 3 other counties (one was Monroe Co.) in 1836. I have 4 Jackson family lines and they’ve driven me nuts for 40 years, so I have a suggestion for my fellow researchers.
I would like to suggest that researchers who are certain their ancestor descends from Jacob or William please “claim” them and give approximate (guesstimates) dates of birth/death/marriage so we can nail down some of their many children and eliminate them from everyone else’s research efforts. Please, please attach your info to this posting according to the following suggestions.

Jacob and Mary DeMoss Jackson’s children (according to message 13094 on this site), were
1. William 2. Israel 3. Peter 4. Henry 5. Jacob Jr. 6. Moses 7. James 8. John (born 1803) and 9. Samuel
No years of birth are given for 8 of the 9 children and I don’t know if this is the order of birth, so for the sake of pooling info, let’s pretend the oldest child was born about 1785 and the last was born about 1805. If your ancestor has one of the 9 names but their birth falls more than 10 years outside the timeframe, please don’t reply to this post. The relative needs some kind of connection to Kentucky or Indiana, so if they were born in New York and traveled through Indiana in 1840, please don't post. Anyone able to prove a connection to one of the 9 Jackson men listed above? Do you have a Bible record, land record, marriage, old history book, something other than another person’s posting? Claim them if you are confident and have no proof- I'm just trying to get a feel for possible areas for research.

William and Elizabeth DeMoss Jackson’s children (again according to message 13094 and birth order uncertain) were
1. Joshua 2.Louis (Lewis) 3. James 4. William 5. Betsy 6. Martha 7. John (born 1801-1805?) 8. Eliza 9. Johanna
(Joanna?) 10. Henry 11. Polly (this is possibly a nickname) 12. Hannah (possibly a nickname) and 13. unknown baby (whom we’ll leave out for now). Assume the children were born between 1785 and 1810 (13 children in 25 years). If your ancestor was born more than 10 years outside of these dates, please don’t post to this message. Again, there should be an Indiana or Kentucky connection. Can anyone prove a connection to one of these known 12?

Unless someone can prove me wrong, I’ve decided to claim number 4, William, as mine and declare him born in 1798. If I’m wrong, surely someone who’s a descendant will tell me. I’m doing research in reverse- he’s mine, now prove me wrong. I know my William was in Monroe County, IN, was born in KY about 1798, and moved to Newton Co., MO about 1838.

I am researching William Jackson, born about 1798 in Kentucky (possibly Fleming Co., KY) who married Britty M. Wilson (born about 1799 in Kentucky; other researchers believe her maiden name was McBride, however the Indiana marriage records say William Jackson married “Birtty” Wilson 21 Jan 1820; whoever typed the online names misspelled Britty). There are no McBrides marrying a William Jackson. The “M” is given as her middle initial in the 1850 Newton Co., Missouri census and it is certainly possible her middle name is McBride. Britty is supposed to be short for Britania, but the researcher who told me this gave no proof. Hope someone can provide more information.
William Jackson may have had 3 sisters who married in Monroe Co., IN:
1.Catherine Jackson (1801-1856) married Cornelius Cox 1 Apr 1824
2.Elizabeth Jackson (Charlotte “Lottie” Elizabeth) married William Cox on 23 Nov 1830 (brother to Cornelius)
3.Joanna A. Jackson married William Davidson 26 Dec 1828

Other Jacksons in Monroe County are Edward Jackson and his wife Agnes Rains, married on 17 Feb 1832. I know of no connection to my William, but it’s certainly possible. Edward and Agnes Jackson appear in several land transactions. Edward and Agnes Jackson have the following children: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3282157&id=I654407483
They are too “late” to be my direct line but Edward may be a cousin.

Another Jackson marriage in Monroe Co, IN is that of Anne Jackson to Alfred Maguire. Information from the following web address says Hannah “Anna” Jackson was born on the 6 Mar 1815 in Monroe Co, KY, married Alfred McGuire on 30 Oct 1832 in Monroe Co, IN and later moved to Nashville, Brown Co., IN where she died in 1882 and is buried. Hannah “Anna” Jackson McGuire was the daughter of John Jackson and “Leotta.” Since Brown Co was formed from Monroe Co in 1836, it’s possible Alfred and Hannah did not move at all- the boundaries and names changed around them.

I wonder if the John Jackson and “Leotta” might be John and Lettetia Wilson Jackson who also lived in Brown Co, IN? Leotta could be a misspelling of Lettetia or vice versa. They were old enough to have a daughter born in 1815. See this web posting:
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3250482&id=I750

A John Jackson (wife Lettetia/Leticia Wilson) is listed as the son of William Jackson and Elizabeth DeMoss. William and Elizabeth (Demoss) Jackson had 13 children. My William Jackson married a Britty Wilson. Could Lettetia Wilson be a relative?

This is the posting with a list of children for William and Elizabeth Jackson and William’s brother Jacob and his wife Mary (Demoss) Jackson.

I love the last posting because it has enough “girls” to be Catherine, Elizabeth, Joanna, and Hannah “Anna” plus 2 Williams that could be mine. My William may be the “William Q. Jackson” married with no children in the 1820 Monroe Co, IN census.

Ok, who knows one of the 21 children/cousins listed for Jacob and Mary Jackson or William and Elizabeth Jackson are their ancestor? Please post!
