Mackes who went from Damme, Germany, to Ohio

My g-g-grandparents were Johann Heinrich Macke and Maria Agnes kleine Br├Ârmann. They lived and died in Damme, Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, Germany. They had 7 children.

One of them Franz, born 20th January 1833 married on 20th October 1857 and emigrated to the US at a later stage.

Two other children, Clemens August (*4th June 1846, died 2nd March 1917 and Bernard Heinrich (my g-grandfather, born 12th October 1830, died 18th September 1906) remained in Damme but some of their children went to the US or elsewhere.

Bernard Heinrich, my afore-mentioned g-grandfather, had 2 sons and 3 daughters. Both sons went away at the age of 17, because their mother (Maria Elisabeth Kr├╝mpelmann) did not want them to serve in the Prussian army. Bernard (*26th February 1869) went to the US (my mother and aunts said to me to OHIO) and Franz (my grandftaher, born 12th February 1881) went to Holland.

I would love to have details about my American family members.

I look forward to receiving your reaction.

Wilma B.G.M. van der Meijden
