Researching William Scott, my ancestor, who moved from Ohio, to Delaware county Indiana, to Cass county, Indiana, where he died about 1845. He had at least one child, a son, Moses, by his first wife (unknown name) in 1823, in Ohio. He remarried to Otilda Lockhart on Jan. 1, 1829, in either Cass county or Carroll county, Indiana. They had 4 children, Anthony Lee Davis Scott, b. Feb. 1830, Graham W.F. and Harriet L., twins, b. abt. 1840, and Edward W., b. abt. 1842., all in Cass county, Indiana.
Anthony Lee Davis Scott enlisted in the 128th Indiana Infantry while he was living in Newton County, Indiana. His father, William, was listed as one of the first settlers of Cass county along with a John Scott in the same year, 1829. I believe both to be from Ohio. He was somehow involved with the Wabash and Erie Canal, possibly through a land transaction. Alexander Scott, the Revolutionary War veteran, also moved to Cass county, died, and is buried there. He moved about the same time frame. His son, Rev. John Scott, was the first white settler of Cass county. I have not yet found a connection. There are quite a few Scotts currently in Cass, Fulton, and Newton counties. Anyone related or does this ring any bells with anyone?
