I'm not sure I have much more information to give you. Everything that I know about Allen Johnson and his family comes from the 1880 census of Newton County, Beaver Township. You might like to look at the record as it does contain other bits of information that may help you in the future.
You have read me correctly. Allen b ca. 1851 in Ohio. Both of his parents were born in Ohio according to the census. Sarah Melady b ca 1854 in Indiana. Her father born in Ireland and her mother b in Indiana.
I checked the marriage records and have no record of Cora Johnson and Hugh Ford being married in Newton County. Suggest looking in adjoining counties for marriage record.
Checked the 1870 census. Could not find them in a cursory search. There are many Johnsons in the area. Many descend from Macajah Johnson and Margaret Carson who came from Lynchburg, VA. You might like to visit our web site for Newton County and search the records there.
I prefer to communicate via GenWeb as there may be others, who will benefit from the message. I will send you a researcher of the Melady family through the e=mail though as that does provide some measure of control for the researcher.
Unfortunately, I do not know the names of the parents. They are not listed in the 1880 census. I did check the burials for Beaver township and I cannot identify any Johnson's who appear to be yours. There are a couple of Melady burials.
Wish I had more for you, but perhaps this will give some clues.
I have Johnson relatives, but have not found a connection with Allen's family, though one may exist.
