Professor Theodore DECKER

Professor Theodore Decker was listed in the 1860 census in Ferdinand, Dubois, Indiana. His wife was listed as Timothea. He had one child listed, Henry. His occupation was listed as school teacher.

Professor Decker was Catholic and may have been the musical director in a Catholic Church near that area.

He was a German musician and started several Philharmonic Orchestra's in numerous cities. Those I know of are Omaha Nebraska; Belleville, St Clair, Illinois; and Memphis, Tennessee, where he died of yellow fever.

I am trying to find any additional information on him. I know that he filed his letter of Intention to become a citizen and I have a copy of that. However, I was unable to find the Citizenship documents, which may or may not exist.

I would appreciate any assistance anyone might be able to give me. Especially anything on the church he attended.

Thank you,
