In looking at your posting history I saw that you listed the father of Mary Elisabeth Hamilton as an R. T. Hamilton (I think those were the initials.) I found some interesting information that I wanted to post for your consideration.
1860 Pope Co. IL Census
William Hamilton, 31, b. IL
Mahala, 26, b. KY
All the children born in IL
Green (male) 12
MARY E., 8
John W., 5
Illinois State Archives online has these marriage entries:
W. F. Hamilton married Mahal Felps (Phelps) 1847-03-25, in Pope Co. IL
Mahala must have died because here is the 2nd marriage:
William F. Hamilton married Fanny Allen, 1863-08-02 in Pope Co. IL
Fanny is often a nickname for Frances.
In 1870 this family was in Hardin Co. IL, which borders Pope Co. In 1880 they were in Lake Co. IN, which does not border Starke Co, but is nearby.
By around 1887 they were in Taylor Co. IA. familysearch.org has a death entry for WM. FRANKLIN HAMILTON. He died 1899 in Taylor Co. His birth place is shown as Polk Co. IL, but there is no Polk Co. IL, so I believe it was Pope Co.
familysearch.org has the Taylor Co. IA marriage records for several of their children, who show their father as William Hamilton and their mother as Frances Allen.
The 1900 Taylor Co. IA census his this information for Frances:
Frances M. Allen, b. Jan 1844 in OH. (Ohio is consistent with the information given for her in earlier census records.)
Ohio marriage records shown George T. Allen’s parents were married 28 March 1842 in Greene Co. OH. I could not find George with his family. Did he have a sister named Frances or “Fanny?”
I found it interesting that George and Mary E. named a son Franklin.
In 1870 Green Hamilton was living in the home of John Phelps, b. KY, probably Mahala’s brother. He was not old enough to be her father.
