1912-2006

Mrs. Oda Mae Tieman, 94, of LaPorte, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at 12:45 p.m. at Countryside Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LaPorte.

She was born July 22, 1912, in Westville to Andrew J. and Dora B. (Thomas) Remmert, and had lived in the LaPorte area all of her life.

Mrs. Tieman had worked at Woolworth?s dime store for 15 years before retirement. She had also worked at the LaPorte Circuit Courthouse for six years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, LaPorte.

On Nov. 24, 1938, in LaPorte, she married Lester C. Tieman, who died Feb. 3, 1971.

Her parents also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two nieces, Sherry Waters of LaPorte and Jeanette Hill of Missouri; one nephew, Vernon Gotschall of California; and several great-, great-great-, and great-great-great-nieces/nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church General Fund or St. John Lutheran Church HVAC Fund, both at 111 Kingsbury Ave., LaPorte, IN 46350.
