thanks carol so much for responding. i am corresponding with the lemon-knapp site too but they stop before lucinda's parents. your census info is exciting as i believe this is her family. lucinda was married in 1848 so she is absent from 1850 census and i bet you would find thomas and lucinda hodges in that census. there are some other coincidences which make me feel that cela mcdowell 46, ky is possibly lucinda's mother. at first i thought (e)lexander (alexander) 60 may have been dad but he is in a seperate hh in 1850, so maybe cela's husband was deceased at that time as william is listed 1st. also lucinda had a daughter named celly (cealy) which would be a juniorish of cela. in other searches on rootsweb world gen i found a celia mcdowell who was an oxley born ky died in switzerland, in and their is a prior oxley in that family who resided in risen-sun for some time before dying in none other than hardin, ill where the hodges moved to. so prior is somewhat unusual lest it would be to a family name i believe. i am gonna research the oxley's from ky to see which mcdowell she may have married. any other help would be appreciated as i am tracing female line back as far as i can. thanks, rhonda
