Thank you for your response...are you asking me for more information? I wonder about land ownership during the time of 1830 to 1840 in Indiana, around Morgan County. His wife Elizabeth White Smart was born 12/5/1811 in Monroe County, IN. The Smarts were fairly prominent people. Her parents were John White Smart and Mary Miller. The children of Thomas and Elizabeth are: James Andrew, 1828; Polly 1830; Brice Miller, 1832; Isabell; 1836; Thomas Hart Benton, 1838(named after a famous Arkansas senator); Elizabeth 1840; Nancy 1842; Deida Mires Smart 1842; Andrew Jackson 1844; John Henry 1849; Jonathan William 1851 and Jesse Texas 1854.
...am interested to find out Thomas' father....is it Jesse Van WInkle born 10/4/1772? Jesse Van Winkle married a Mary Ann Braeden. She was bborn ca 1774.
