NO Relation...

I tried to do a lookup for you and here's what I found.
Swails seems to be a surname that is grouped together in certain counties.

I did do a lookup in the Indiana Birth records, and as to Swails born in May 1913, the only male that came up for me was Aubrey in Boone County. The other entry was for a female with no given name. When doing a search on the surname with the mother as Cook or Mary Cook, I come up with a few that all seem to have been born into the family of John B and Mary E (Cook) Swails. These birth indexes tend to show the mother under her maiden name rather than a married name. It's not uncommon and certainly doesn't mean that the mother and father weren't married.

I'm also finding some repeat of the given names of Swails in Morgan and Boone Co's. Like Forest Swails...

I Think what you need to do is get actual documention rather just doing online searching. Do you have a copy of your father's birth certificate? You have the date.
Do you have a copy of your father's death certificate (if he's deceased).. If this doesn't give parent's name, and it may not if you and your siblings are in the dark on his parents, then do you have a copy of any social security application he may have filed? Check out the ssa.gov to find info on how to apply and forms. What about military applications (if filed prior to marriage) they may show a parent as next of kin.

You really need to find something solid to work backwards from. Furthermore, while I do find Aubrey in the birth records, I find no further information on that name. So it's quite possible he died young. Another thought...your father said he was born a twin and the other one died, but no mention of when. If the other was stillborn, there would be no birth record for him/her. There may be a death or stillborn record however..

Below is what I found...
Indiana marriages:
John B Swails m. Mary E Cook in Boone Co.
(Family tree records show her as Mary Etta Cook, him as John Bert Swails; this family show children as Gladys Dorothy, mary S, Inez L, and Rush S)
This family shows up in 1920 census in Boone Co:
John 47
Mary 44
Eush S 18
Mary S 17
Inez 14
Bertha 1 6/12

In 1910 there shows up 2 Mary Swails in Boone County,
Mary E, b. abt 1850 aged 60, resides with Nathan Swails, age 80 as his wife of 30+years
Mary S, b. abt 1904
Mary E, wife of John, shows up as Etta on this census. she's b. abt 1875

1920: 3 Mary Swails in Boone County: Etta shows up here as Mary, plus the other two from above.
