I am searching for evidence to confirm that the Sarah Phebus listed as living in Vermillion Co. on the federal census of 1840 is the widow of James Phebus, Darby township, Pickaway County, Ohio who died in February 1837.
He was the nephew of Lewis Phebus, who owned property in Fountain, County, IN. She may have been living on his property. Sarah and the children are listed as residing in White County, IN on the 1850 federal census form. I do not know her maiden name nor where she is buried. Some of her children are buried in the Palestine Cemetery in Princeton Township, White County. ANY help is appreciated!!
