I am trying to locate any information on my gg-grandfather Michael Cable. I was able to locate his marriage records to Catherine Lakin-Plummer in Ripley County, in 1859. I am able to trace him from that point forward, but, I have come upon a huge brick wall in locating any information prior to 1859. I know that he was born in PA, abt. 1816, but do not know where or who his parents and family are.
In 1850 census we have him living with Phillip and Nancy Newman in Otter Creek, Ripley County, IN. The Newman family appears to be from PA also. Maybe someone has information on the Newman family that might give some leads.
Would there be any further records in Ripley County that might give me additional information such as parents names, birth place etc.?
Any assistance or guidance as to other resources/leads, would be greatly appreciated.
