The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa

S.A. NEWELL died at his home in Albia, last Thursday morning. He had been a
great sufferer for a year or more from paralysis. He was a native of Owen
County, Indiana, coming with the pioneers to the west line of Monroe County,
afterwards engaging in the mercantile business at Melrose. He was well
known to the eastern part of Lucas County and was a man of affairs for many
years. He was a brother of the late WILLIAM NEWELL, of Russell, whose
tragic death, several years since, will be remembered.
