Hi!
The 1900 census for Indianapolis shows the following info:
William LONGMIRE, born December 1885 in NC
Lucinds " born November 1865 KY
James " born July 1889
Ettie " born Feb. 1891
Harry " born 1893
George born June 1895
Joseph born Mar 1898
William NOEL born July 1869
Lillie Noel (Wife of Wm.) born 1874.
William LONGMIRE was a fireman for a locomotive.
Jumping forward to the 1930 census, we have a James W. LONGMIRE, a 40 year old widower in the Marion county jail on Alabama Street. says he was born IL, father born NC mother born KY.
THere is a WWI draft registration card for a James William LONGMIRE of Indianapolis, who was born July 10, 1889. He was an umemployed printer. The place of birth is given, but is hard to read! looks like "Matose" or Matoose" IL.
Cannot quite find the family in the 1920......
