Interested in information about my great-aunt Lola Ethel Clark (daughter of John B. & Almira Compton Clark). Parents died of typhoid fever when Lola was only 1 year old (1894) and she and her siblings were raised by friends, family, foster families. Was Lola legally adopted by John P. Grissom (Lost River, Martin, Indiana, 1900 federal census)? Lola married George Spoonmore in 1908. (Marriage information lists Lola E. Grissom as married to George Spoonmore) Any insight into adoption theory would be appreciated!
