I'm not related to this line & I haven't checked the accuracy of this info. I did find some family trees on world connect/rootsweb. You may want to look for Eugene in Illinois during the 1880 census & try some variations on the spellings like "Macarthy" or "Macarty," etc. as sometimes the census takers just got the names (and places of birth) wrong or the modern transcription could be wrong. Do you know if he could have been married before he married Ida Brumbaugh? If she had died before they had any children, it might be difficult to find a record of a first wife.
