Thurday,Mar. 07,1895 Bourbon Mirror- death of Mrs. Babcock-
Mrs. Almesa Babcock, wife of Geo. W. Babcock, died at her home in this place, Saturday, March 2, 1895, after an illness of about two weeks duration. She was a lady of a retiring disposition, and was loved and respected by her husband and children and neighbors. Funeral services, conducted by the Order of the Eastern Star, were held at the home Monday morning, which was supplemented by brief remarks and prayer by Rev. I. W. Singer. Her remains were taken to Valporaiso for interment on the 9:31 a.m. train. The following is a brief obituary of the deceased.Almesa Babcock was born in Hamilton county Ohio in 1830, and was therefore sixty-five years of age. She was married to Mr. Geo. W. Babcock at the residence of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. L. Mander Lewis, on the 22nd day of February, 1855.Mrs.Babcock was the devoted mother of four children, three of whom survive her, and to whose careful training and practical education she gave with a self-sacrificing and unselfish devotion the best years and unceasing efforts of her examplary life. Kind and forgiving always she lived and labored for the happiness and best interests of her family, shedding the sweet influence of her serene and loving personality on all with whom she was associated. A family reared under such wise and even tempered influence could not be other than useful and honored citizens and good neighbors.
