John & Sarah Thompson & family, circa 1840

I'm aware of other Thompson names in Marshall County, particularly Abner and William. They were John's brothers.
My ancestor, John, moved to Plymouth.

Without a middle initial, it is very difficult to track him in the Marshall Co. census and land records. The children's names were James Columbus, William, Mary, Jasper, Richard, and Isaac Jackson. James and Isaac appear to have been the only ones to survive past mid-century.

Our family feels that John came to a bad end, but we have no documentation. He simply disappears from all records between 1840 and 1850.

We'd appreciate any suggestions.
