Hi Debi,
I saw your query and thought I might be able to help.I am not related to this family, but I do live in Marshall Co. and get to the Plymouth Library occassionally.I looked up John and Lucinda Zumbaugh in the cemetery index and found they are also buried in Stringer Cemetery.
Zumbaugh, John N.Co. D 17th Indiana Infantry
Born 1839Died 1907
, LucindaBorn 1843Died 1926
Also buried in Stringer Cemetery:
Zumbaugh, CharlesBorn 1801Died 3 Nov 1871
Anna B.Born 1808Died 12 Nov 1872
I wonder if Charles was John's father?Zumbaugh is such an uncommon name, I checked a few other books to see if I could find anything else for them for Marshall Co.In a book titled "History of Marshall Co., In, 1836-1986" I found a brief biography of one Henry Zumbaugh.

"Henry and Harriet Zumbaugh"
Henry B. Zumbaugh was born January 8, 1830, in Baden Baden, Germany, and died on February 27, 1918.He came to America at the age of four with his parents, Charles and Ann Zumbaugh.Henry drove an ox team to California in the Gold Rush of 1849.
Henry married Harriet Platt, daughter of John and Sophia Platt from Holland.Harriet was born September 12, 1838, and died on September 18, 1909, of cancer. She was a short and kind woman.
Henry and Harriet left an 80 acre farm to each of their children: John, who married Carrie Carpenter; Charles; Harriet Jane, who married Chasteen Pickerl; William; Mina, who married Simon Zehner; and Friend Zumbaugh.
Henry and Harriet are buried in McElrath Cemetery, Walnut Township.

I thought it was a strong possibility that John and Henry were brothers, and since the bio gave his exact date of death, I looked up Henry's obit in the two newspapers Plymouth had at that time."The Weekly Republican" Thursday, March 7, 1918, had the most informative obituary.
"Henry Zumbaugh"
Henry Zumbaugh, son of Charles and Anna Barbara Zumbaugh, was born in Baton, Germany, January 8, 1830.He was the oldest son of a family of eleven children, six sons and five daughters.
When he was a small boy, he came with his parents to America and settled in Ohio and later near Twin Lakes, Ind., where he helped his father clear the land and pay for their new home.
At the age of twenty, he was among the early gold seekers to California and drove an ox team the entire distance. He returned by the Gulf route to New York and from there to his parental home.Later, with his successful means he bought an eighty acre farm near Argos.
In 1857 he was married to Harriet Catharine Platt. To this union were born four souns and two daughters, Charles H., John S., Frenzy M., William F., Mrs. Harriet J. Pickerl and Mrs. Mina Zehner, all of whom are living.
Until the death of his wife, eight years ago, they lived on their farm four miles west of Argos. He lived with his children until a few years prior to death which he spent with his daughter, Mrs. Chasteen Pickerl. He died at the age of 88 years, one month, and 19 days.
One son and two daughters were with him at the time of departure.
Six children, twenty-one grandchildren, eighteen great-grand children, two brothers and two sisters are left to mourn the departure of a loved one.

There are several Zumbaughs buried in Oakhill Cemetery.Among them are:
Zumbaugh, Adam 1837-1915
, Mary (Kepler) 1841-1923
According to the printed Marshall Co. Marriage Index at the library, Adam Zumbaugh married Mary Kepler on 5 April 1863 (Marriage Book B, page 65).There was no marriage record for John and Lucinda in the Index.
There were other marriage records and cemetery records for Zumbaugh, but I wasn't sure how much of that information you might be interrested in.If you would like those, let me know. And I might be able to come up with a few more obits or death notices too.I had to stop tonight because the library was closing.Hope this has helped, let me know if you want those other marriage and cemetery records.
