I have just barely scratched the surface of this connection of Sumner,Illinois to a Lucas family ..The story goes:(on our Lucas family) Brothers and sisters Mary Jane, Martha, Sarah Eliz. and Francis(frank) Lucas are living together in Vincennes-1850 census (with Mary Jane & husband John Q. A. Thing) Their mother was said to be Elizabeth Jones born in Sumner Il. The father was to have been James Lucas. In 1860 Martha and husband Philip Bishop are living in Lawrence Co. IL. and then disappear. Brother Frank disappears as well. Later years the sons and dau. of John Thing are living in Sumer IL. and die there.. Sam Thing(widower), Edward L.(widower) and Ida Thing (spinster).(1920's)-Somehow the Daniel Shick family is connected -wife Caroline Shick's maiden name is Jones, and I have tin type pictures of Carolyn and dau. Rebecca. I also have a picture of a Millard F. Jones(1880's?)(There's also a Jones girl who married an Isgrig in Illinois marriages) - Sister Sarah E.Lucas(married 1st Robt Potter in Vincinnes 1854) and 2nd Wm. Isgrig of Clinton Co. Indiana.(1858) These mentioned photos came from the album of Sarah E. Isgrig along with many that are not identified. The Shick photos definately say " of Sumner IL" on them. Would be glad to share .
