Dixon Cobb, born 1797 in South Carolina, the son of Seymour Cobb and Esther (or perhaps, Hester) Lewis. Dixon Cobb married Marcia "Massey" Shelby Feb. 20, 1820, in Wayne County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Joshua Shelby and Susannah.
Dixon lived in Lawrence County, Indiana, most of his adult life. In the 1850 Federal Census for Indian Creek Twp., Lawrence County, Indiana, Dixon Cobb was listed with a son named Seymour Cobb, age 19 yrs. Dixon Cobb was a farmer and served a term as Sheriff of Lawrence County about 1855. I should like to learn the names of the children born to Dixon Cobb and Massey Shelby, his wife.
