Looking for the parents of Mary Jane McKean, 31 Aug 1835 OH - 11 Oct 1865 PA. She married Joseph G. Smith about 1855, probably in IN, possibly in LA GRANGE CO, where Joseph had family. Her eldest child, Mary Ellen, was b. 1856; Juliana (1859-1861); John Charles (1862-1925). In March 1860, Mary Jane moved with her husband and two daughters to Emlenton, Venango Co, PA, where she died in 1865. In 1870, Joseph is a widower and living with his sister, Mary Widle in Emlenton, where he remained until his death in 1901. Joseph G. Smith was a French immigrant (Huguenot); he came to Lancaster Co PA about 1837 w/his parents, was apprenticed at 14 to a shoemaker, and went to IN about 1851. In 1860, his widowed mother, Sophia, is living in Johnson, La Grange, IN with Joseph's siblings Michael Jr (a blacksmith), Katharine, and Charlotte.
