At a shop in Columbia City, Whitley County, Indiana there was an old framed Marriage License for sale. The married couple was "DAVID SNAPP of Indiana" and "SOPHIA ?_EDDING" (could not identify first letter of the handwriting) of Union Twp. Logan County, Ohio." The marriage was finalized on December 7, 1871. The shop is called "Memory Lane" and the phone number is 260-244-5446.
I have also located the graves of this David Snapp and his wife Sophia. From cemetery information I learned that DAVID SNAPP was born 9 Jan. 1830 and died 17 Dec. 1919. SOPHIA was his second wife. Sophia was born 20 Mar. 1832 and died 5 Sept. 1903.
David's first wife was PATIENCE. She died 13 April 1870 at the age of 40 yr. 11 mo. 17 days. All three of these people are buried at Washington Union Cemetery in Washington Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana. Hopefully a descendant of David Snapp will come forward and claim this wonderful old marriage license.
