Seeking information on Laura HARBAUGH Layton and her family, who was raised by Samuel WEATHERFORD.Her parents were John HARBAUGH and Mary E.MCCAULEY,both died when she was very young. However, both her father, John and her mother, Mary E.had family in Madison so why did she not live with them?Mary and Laura lived with Isaac SHORT family in 1860. Are they kin? Mary E. was the daughter of William R.MCCAULEY and Julia Ann DAVENPORT.Mary had three brothers, John R, William H. and Charles A MCCAULEY. William married Belle McELREA in 1870.

Julia Ann DAVENPORT married second to William HEATHERINGTON and had Maggie who married Wright SIMS and James. After her death in the late 1860's, William married Mary J. HANSON.

Laura and her husband, Jacob C. LAYTON are living in Jefferson County in 1880 with their children and her grandmother,Polly DAVENPORT.Need help on finding Polly's unknown maiden name.
