It is a history, not a genealogy work, so if individuals weren't involved in founding some institution or in an elected office or otherwise noteworthy, they won't be discussed.

There are chapters on the discovery of the area, the first settlers, development of churches and business, the railroad, black history, the Civil War (and a lot beside Morgan's raid), how technology such as the telegraph, telephone and electronic light spread through the area.
