The Late John PAUGH, A Worthy Nonagenarian Citizen.

Special to The Madison Courier, Cross Pains, Indiana, July 2 -

John PAUGH, son of Isaac and Josina PAUGH, was born near Cross Pains, Ind., Apr 25, 1818, and died at his home in Switzerland county, Indiana, aged 94 years and two months.
Mr PAUGH was united in matrimony to Nancy JACKSON in 1940, and to them were born six sons and two daughters. His wife having died in 1864, he was married to Elizab--- BURGESS in 1867. the fuits {of} his second marriage were one son and two daughters. His second wife preceded him to the other life three months and fourteen days {ago}. He leaves to mourn his departure seven sons, one daughter, one brother, thirty-three grandchildren and sixty-three great-grandchildren.
For about 65 years Mr PAUGH was a member of the Salem Christian chirch, and died in the faith and hope of the gospel. Seldom, and never without good reason, was his place in the Lord's house vacant, and his pastor for fifty years cannot recall a more exemplary life, nor a single person among his numerous descendants who has not in a great degree, shared in his worthy Christian character. His remains were interred in the old Salmen cemetery, June 17, the funeral servies being conducted by J. W. Lar---.
"From Thee we are; and in Thy brest only can rest; The soul that in Thy wrath hath bound susbtantial round with Thee in Thy eternal home, shall never roam."
