Michael,
Here is what was found for the Independenc Cemetery records, Elisha Murphy: Born July 17, 1823 and Died Sept 13, 1901, must have served in the Civil War. Married a Polly Parris born Nov 8, 1822 and unknown death date. Elisha Murphy's name appears on the Milroy monument in Rensselaer, Indiana, as a member of the 38th, Regiment Indiana Infantry. Polly was first married to a Joseph Comer, whom died in 1845. Looked through my records and I did not find a Josph Comer. I hope this helps. You can probably obtain his military Records. This will sometimes have other information on it.

Hope this helps.
D. Lewark
