I am looking for the marriage date of my great aunt, Martha J. Hopper to Caleb Goin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Martha was with her parents on the 1860 Claiborne Co., TN census. She married Caleb Goin after that census, and died at the home of her brother, William Riley Hopper, in Brownstown, Jackson Co., IN on 9 Jan 1863.
Since there is no marriage record for the couple in Claiborne Co., TN, it's possible they were married in Jackson Co.?? The date of her death is listed on both her husbands' and her brothers' Civil War pension files. William Riley Hopper was with the 42nd Regiment of Indiana Volunteers, Co. A. After Martha's death, Caleb Goin returned to Claiborne Co., TN and entered the military there. It's also possible that the entire Hopper family, parents, Jeremiah and Abigail Fulps Hopper, and their 11 children were in Jackson Co., IN as well, but only until about late 1864 or early 1865. William Riley mustered out of the service in 1865 in Lincoln Co., KY and was living there with his family. (William Riley's wife was Permelia Goin, sister to Caleb). Caleb was in Lincoln Co., KY at that time also as he married another Hopper sister, Sarah.
Would anyone have any cemtery records that would list Martha J. (Hopper) Goin who died 9 Jan 1863? Just anything that would relate to this Hopper family during this short time period would be such a great help. Thanks so much. May
