Today I visited Cory Cemetery, Van Buren Twp, Grant Co., IN Boy this is a very remote and rural cemetery, left in demise for several decades, County and geneology people have been trying to clean it up the last 15 years. It is so remote the youth vandalism it often, so much so the Van Buren Police told me they go out to it twice a day, yes, they showed up while I was there. It is dead in the middle of a one mile square sectioned off by county roads 1100 & 1000 N and 500 & 600 E. You access it by a single lane 1/2 mile gravel road on a fence/tree line between the farms, it is boarder to the south by Black Creek and sometimes called Black Creek Cemetery. It is fairly large comprising several acres. Margaret Carson Clouds stone was in the deepest area away from the gravel road deep under a grove of trees dug out and leaning against a tree. I did not find a stone for her husband Thomas Cloud. Her children and grandchildren are in a tight area all along the back of the cemetery by the fence line. No stones for Prudence and only one stating a daughter of a Sharp. But there are many stones face down and others scattered from the vandalism and I just had a short time there. Clean stones for many of Prudences siblings, nieces and nephews.
My quick research shows no Carsons in the area at all, A few Cloud scattered throughout a three county area, and less Sharps. It seems the line does not go very wide as a family tree. I do note 11 of 12 of the Cloud children were born in PA and one in Wells Co, IN which is due west of Fort Wayne and even closer to me. Two are listed as died in Wells County. I will look into this in the future.
