Hollingsworth June 2000 Reunion
Descendants of Valentine Hollingsworth, Sr. Society Reunion
June 16-18, 2000
Wilmington Select Hotel
I-95 and Naamans Road in Claymont, DE.
Once again, the Descendents of Valentine Hollingsworth, Sr. are meeting to share their camaraderie and fun as they learn
more about the Hollingsworth clan and each other. Howard County, Indiana hosted us last year. This year, join us at the Wilmington Select Hotel for a great reunion weekend.Rates are a reasonable $79 (both single and double occupancy) plus 8% Lodging Tax. Call 302/792-2700 for reservations. Rooms with this special rate will be held until June 2.
Why Delaware? As you may know, Valentine Hollingsworth and his family made this part of Delaware their homes, and a
number of Hollingsworths are buried here.
On Friday, we have a variety of options available. If interest warrants, we will have a group going to Elkton, MD (Henry
Hollingsworth, son of Valentine, is buried there). We are also planning a trip to the Friends Library in Swarthmore, PA.
Both trips are about an hour away from the host hotel.
Friday evening we will have a group dinner (casual)--we hope to have a picnic.
Then for Saturday morning, we will visit a couple of local Quaker graveyards where Hollingsworths are buried. Saturday
afternoon, we will visit the New Ark Union Cemetery where Valentine himself is buried. There is a huge stone there
erected by his descendants.
Saturday evening we will have an after-dinner speaker, followed by our annual meeting.
We are working with the hotel to have an Sunday morning breakfast (8:30-10 am), if there is enough interest.
Costs: Registration Fee $10; Dinner on Friday and Saturday will be approximately $20.
If you have any questions about the reunion, please contact Jo Hollingsworth.
