additional tidbits:
Christian Croussore, son of Michael Croussore, who was born in 1750, possibly in Alsace.
The family pioneered Howard County Indiana. Possibly there is a tombstone for Christian Croussore in the town cemetery in Greencastle Indiana (just east of Kokomo). This tombstone lists the military unit in which Christian Croussore served.
This may have referred to his Revolutionary War service, but the date does not fit---Christian was born in 1777.
Possible it is a reference to his father, Michael Croussore, who was born in 1750.

CHRISTIAN CROUSORE--parents of Christian, last name of spouse, Susannah, He was born in 1777 in Mansfield, PA. He married Susannah (unknown) born in Virginia. He served with PA Militia in the War of 1812 for 3 months before being mustered out for illness. Children-Jacob (born 1813 in Clifton Co., OH), Jessi and Mary.

Apr 18, 1891--LEWIS STEPHENS, aged 56 years, P.O. Greentown, Howard Co, IN;
stated that he has resided in Howard Co, IN for more than 30 years and has known
the CROUSORE family all that time;
that the soldier was the son of RHODA A. CROUSORE and was never married.
Apr 20, 1891--RHODA A. CROUSORE, aged 71 years, resident of Taylor Twp, Howard
Co, IN; declaration for dependent mother's pension; witnesses ANDY J. STEPHENS
and SHERMAN J. PICKETT.
May 27, 1891--JOHN CROUSORE, aged 78 years, P.O. Center, Howard Co, IN; stated
that the "husband of the claimant was a brother of mine. I was at their
wedding as an invited guest, that claimant and her husband Jacob Crousore were
married at Madison County, Indiana on the 31 day of March 1842, and lived
together as husband and wife to April 12, 1891 when claimant's husband died at
Howard Co, Indiana. That claimant is the mother of said soldier Andrew R.
Crousore. That said Jacob Crousore was never married prior to his marriage to
claimant. That the claimant was never married before her marriage to my said
brother. I know this for the reason she was raised in the same neighborhood
where my brother & myself were raised and that said Andrew R. Crousore was never
married and died leaving neither widow nor children."; witnesses M.C. JOHNSON
and G.E. GORE.
Dec 5, 1891--WILLIAM H. BOGUE, aged 56 years, P.O. Center, Howard Co, IN; stated
that he lived as a neighbor to JACOB CROUSORE and his wife, the claimant, for
forty years, that their son, ANDREW R. CROUSORE, "wanted to enlist in Co E 13th
Reg't Ind. Inf. with me but I insisted that he should not as his parents did not
want him to enter the service on account of his age - but afterwards he wrote me
from camp at Indianapolis that he had enlisted in Co F 147 Ind. I know that he
never returned from the service; witnesses J.H. KROH and ALICE BOGUE.
Dec 7, 1891--MILTON BARRETT, aged 68 years, P.O. Guy, Howard Co, IN; stated "I
have known the young man's father and mother for nearly forty years and know
that they lived together as man and wife during all that time. I also knew the
young man himself personally, and was well acquainted with him he having went to
school to me two or three terms. I also know his name was Andrew R. Crousore."
Dec 10, 1891--ALLEN HEALTON, aged 67 years, P.O. Guy, Howard Co, IN; stated that
he has known JACOB and RHODA CROUSORE for thirty-nine years.
Jan 11, 1892--JOHN PICKETT, aged 52 years, P.O. Hemlock, Howard Co, IN; stated
that he has resided as neighbor to claimant and her husband since 1876.
Feb 1, 1892--LEWIS STEPHENS, aged 57 years, P.O. Guy, Howard Co, IN; stated "I
was present at the funeral of the late Jacob Crousore husband of Rhoda Crousore
said Jacob Crousore died on 12th of April 1891 and buried on the 13th of April
1891."
Feb 1, 1892--WILLIAM A. FEAR, aged 40 years, P.O. Hemlock, Howard Co, IN; stated
"I have known the claimant and her husband Jacob Crousore for 10 years. I know
that said Jacob Crousore died on the 12 day of April 1891. I was present and
saw his body after death and attended his burial."
Oct 27, 1892--JOHN CROUSORE, P.O. Hemlock, Howard Co, IN; stated that "said
soldier was my brother, he enlisted under name of Hiram Crousore in [Co F, 147
Regiment Indiana Volunteers] and died at Indianapolis, Ind. about April 5, 1865
while a member of said Co & Regt, said Andrew R. body was brought from
Indianapolis to this county where we buried him in our family graveyard about
the 8 of April 1865."
Nov 22, 1892--RHODA A. CROUSORE, aged 74 years, P.O. Guy, Howard Co, IN; stated
that her son enlisted under the name HIRAM CROUSORE instead of his true name;
witnesses A.J. STEPHENS and WILLIAM GRAY.
Jan 9, 1894--HANNAH BOGUE, aged 59 years, P.O. Greentown, Howard Co, IN; stated
"that I knew Andrew R. Crousore for many years before his enlistment in the
Army. He was a member of Company F 147 Regiment Ind. Vols. I knew his father
JACOB and mother RHODA for years before the war, having lived close neighbors to
them in Howard County, Indiana before their sons enlistment. The reason that I
know he was a member of that company and regiment is that I used to get letters
from the soldier while he was in the Army and wrote letters to him while there,
and directed them to him in the name of Andrew R. Crousore in care of the Capt
Co F 147 Ind Vols. I also got letters from him while he was sick in the
Hospital at Indianapolis before he died, he wanted me to come and see him, while
he was sick in the hospital. Affiant further says that the soldiers father was
opposed to his son going to the army, but the soldier said to this affiant that
he the soldier allowed to run off and go to the army, and asked this affiant if
she would write to him and keep him posted which she promised to do and did so.
After I had agreed to write to him and keep him posted, he did run off and go to
the army, and I always thought the reason he went into a company where there was
not any persons we were acquainted with was because he did not want his father
to find out where he was, as he was under age, and was afraid his father would
find him and take him out of the service. The reason I suppose of his making me
his confidant is the fact that I was his aunt my husband being the brother of
the soldiers mother".
Nov 23, 1894--JOSEPH CROUSORE, aged 39 years, P.O. Guy, Howard Co, IN; stated
that he is a brother of the soldier, ANDREW R. CROUSORE, alias HIRAM CROUSORE,
and that the claimant is his mother.
