MRS. SARAH TOMLINSON died suddenly on Friday night, April 14, 1905, at the home of her daughter, MRS. J.C. SEWARD, at the advanced age of 80 years. Funeral services conducted by Dr. D.C. Franklin, were held at the SEWARD home on Sunday afternoon at four o'clock and on Monday the remains were taken to Ackworth where brief services were conducted by Rev. Smith of the Friends' Church. The remains were interred at that place.
MISS SARAH B. STANLEY was born in North Carolina on January 14, 1825. When about seven years old she moved with her parents to Hendricks County, Indiana. She was married there to JOHN TOMLINSON in 1849. They removed to Iowa in 1856 residing near Indianola where the husband passed away on April 4, 1874. About thirteen years ago, MRS. TOMLINSON came to Chariton where she has since made her home with her daughter. She was the mother of seven children. Three daughters and one son preceded her to the better land. Two sons and one daughter are living. They are WM. R. of Des Moines; SAMUEL M. of Wichita, Kas., and MRS. FLORENCE SEWARD of this city. Deceased had been a faithful and consistent member of the Friends' Church for a good many years. She lived to a ripe old age, closing a life of usefulness, which was beneficial to all who came in contact with her. May she rest in peace, and the memory of her pure and simple life be a beacon which will quicken in those cognizant of her actions, aspirations for nobler deeds. Her death is sincerely mourned by a host of friends who extend heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.
