Visit Part II
I was also wondering if someone could tell me who to contact so I'll be able to search church records for the Methodist Church at Lizton.I'm looking for the death of Jeptha C. Noe(could also be Noah) around 1887.Here is the following information on him that I have.I've sent twice to the Hendricks County look ups, but have received no answer.Could someone please help me?
Birth:Jeptha Condit Noe in Caldwell, NJ 23 April 1806.
Marriage 1:Lucinda Whitehead, 13 November 1830-Franklin Co. OH.
Marriage 2:Lucinda Ames, 8 July 1877, Paw Paw. Lee Co., IL.
Marriage 3:Sarah A. (Majors) Mullholland, 27 November 1880, Marion Co., IN.
Daughter:Helen J. Noe married in Hendricks, Co. IN on 5 January 1888 to Hiram Franklin by C.W. Stewart, Minister.
Wife:Third wife, Sarah Noe listed in the 1900 Federal Census in Union Twp., Hendricks Co. living with her son-in-law and daughter John H. Dyer and his wife Mary. This is the county and township that I found Helen Noe, daughter of Jeptha Noe and Lucinda when she married Hiram Franklin in 1888.
OBIT FOUND:Danville, IN Republican, February 17, 1887:
Died Feb. 10, 1887, at his home north of Lizton, an aged gentleman by the name of Noah. His funeral was preached on the 11th by Elder Beale of Pittsboro and the remains were interred in the Cemetery east of town.Mr. Noah was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and his loss will be regretted by many in this community.(Nancy Lee)
I'm not sure if this is my g-g grandfather or not, but things fit.He was a Methodist Circuit rider in IL in earlier years then switched to Methodist Weslyian around the time of the Civil War.
I have not been able to search Methodist Church records for that area yet.The daughter listed above, Helen, I believe probably lived with him.She spent time in the Illinois State Mental Hospital and married probably after he died. She married in 1888.
I am trying to ascertain if the above is indeed his obituary and what cemetery he is buried in.I did not find his grave listed on the on line cemeteries around Lizton on the internet.
Thank you for any help.He has been a brick wall for this family forever it seems. No one seems to know for sure where he is.Please let me know if any costs are needed to cover your research expenses.
