Elihu (Elisha) Maines and Margaret Foster

I believe these are the parents of my great grandfather J. W. Maines. The library marriage records indicate that they were married in Marion County on May 14, 1848. Elihu (Elisha) Maines was born in Indiana. Margaret Foster was born in Warren, Ohio 18 April 1828. Their children were Mary Ann (Molly) Maines, William Cass Maines, John Wesley Maines, Andrew J. Maines, and Theodore Maines. I believe that all these children were born in Indiana, either in Marion County or Brownsburg, Hendricks County.

At least two of the boys, John Wesley, and William Cass moved to Burlington Junction, Nodaway County, Missouri. John Wesley later moved to Bristow (Indian Territory) Oklahoma and William Cass stayed in Missourie where he died in 1933.

I half expected to find Elihu and Margaret Maines on either the 1850 or 1860 Census in the Indianapolis area. Our state archives here in Austin, Texas have all the census microfilm but lack the census indexes for Indiana for 1850 or 1860 so I'm sort of stuck in my research until I can get access to some indexes, else I am left to scanning every page on the microfilm until I find something.

I would appreciate any help anyone can offer in this regard.
