Shelton Burgess (1812?-1861?) was the son of John Burgess Sr. (1767?-1846) of Harrison Co., KY and Putnam Co., IN, who was the son of Garner Burgess (1726?-1790) of Fauquier Co., VA, who was the son of Edward Burgess Sr. (1699?-1759) of Stafford (later King George) Co., VA, who was the son of William Burgess (d. 1712) of Richmond (later King George) Co., VA. Shelton's relationship to his father is demonstrated through a Putnam Co. settlement deed (DB #L, p. 658, dated 8 Sept. 1843). Moses Burgess was his youngest child (of five). I met Rollie's daughter, Helen Enola Anderson, some years ago.
