Just happened to see this response. I am Penny's sister. Yes we saw the 1910 census. It actually says "Ranes". This was a misspelling of a man's name who everyone, except him, believed was Ruby's father. We also got this name from a cousin of Ruby's. We tracked down an elderly daughter of his and she had heard she might have a half sister as well but when we did a DNA test, to everyone's surprise, it was negative. There was at least one other possibility. This happened this spring. We are now just trying to find pictures of the young men in the area she may have known hoping there will be some resemblance to Ruby or her children. Although she looked like her grandfather, she had very dark hair and eyes. We are trying to find pictures of the classes that attended the Armstong school in Blue River Township or the Mt. Tabor church. We are hoping to find some other clue but I am afraid if we do not find someone who remembers someone else Cora may have had a relationship with we will never find him. Thanks for your response.
