I am still looking for information on Loren H. Mann. He was born between 1882 to 1884 in Indiana. We know that he died in Needles, California on April 27, 1910 where he drowned in the Colorado River while working on oil rigs or a bridge. We were told that he may have died when a bridge collapsed while he and several other men were crossing. They all perished.
I found him in the 1910 California census and his occupation is listed as a sheetmetel worker. His Father was listed as being born in Virginia and his Mother in Indiana. It is belived that his body was never recovered, but my great grandmothers bible states that he was buried in Needles, California. So as you can see we still have a family mystery to solve.
Upon more research we have found that his father was John Mann and his mother was (Mary ?) Terell. I requested and recieved a copy of his marriage License and application from the State of Indiana. But, that is the only information that we have found on him in the last 5 years. He married my Great grandmother Stella Mae Stark (AKA Stell or Estella) on April 13, 1902 and had one daughter ( my grandmother) Helen Elizabeth Mann (Cherry)(She married Ernest Arthur Cherry). Helen was born on April 10, 1904 and died August 1, 1998. We think that his family moved to Harrison County, Indiana later on after living for a while on a farm in Indianapolis. We believe that he had brother's and a sister. Possibly, Clifford, Benjamin and Jennie.
Any information would be greatly appriciated. If you have a similar story or the names are familiar in your family I would love to hear from you as he was only 26 years old when he died we have precious little information on him. Thank You! - Rita Wells
