Ollie, although they may have been related to the Germanna UTZ's in some way, I have never found a connection. My UTZ's were from Alsace, and came to America in 1733, settling in the Baltimore area. After Heinrich Jacob UTZ died in Maryland in 1789, his widow (the former Barbara NAGLE)remarried and moved her family, along with her new husband, to Shenandoah Co., VA. The children retained the UTZ name, and in the very early 1800s Conrad UTZ (my g-g-g-gfather) and his brother Adam left Virginia. They both settled temporarily with their families in KY, but soon moved on to Harrison Co., IN. In 1823 both of them purchased land in neighboring Floyd Co. (Georgetown), where they spent the remainder of their lives.
