Hi Richard, I checked the 1860 Census for the families in your inquiry and came up with the following:
1860 - Germantown, Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana
Oliver P Hastings, 28, Ohio, farmer
Elizabeth E, 24, Ohio
Mary M, 3, Illinois
Mary E, 12, Indiana
James H, 16 Indiana
Since they are listed in the order they are and because of the ages, Mary E and James H may be Oliver's younger siblings.Lawrence Township, Marion County is just over the county line from Fortville.
1860 - Walpole (Fortville), Vernon Township, Hancock County, Indiana
Peter Likins, 35, Pa, farmer
Mary, 30, Pa
Katharine, 9, In
Just a little note that might help you further:Fortville is in the extreme northwest corner of Hancock County. In fact, some of the kids in town go to Hancock County schools, some to Hamilton County and others to Madison County.A good many of the people from Fortville are buried in Gravel Lawn Cemetery, which is in Madison County. You may want to check these counties and see if you can find anything there.I apologize for not contacting you directly. It's something I never do. There might be other people looking for the same information and I think they should have an opportunity to see what's being passed around.Personal E-mailing doesn't let that happen. Marlena
