Kathryn,
I descend from Jacob and Jane Lewis Slifer. Jacob had a brother George and a sister Margaret. However, their parents were Phillip and Catherine Jung (possibly Young) Slifer. The family came to America from Alsace, Germany surviving shipwreck at sea. I know there was a Valentine Slifer in my Slifer family but I don't know how he is related. Maybe he had a son George as well. I have a photo of George Slifer's children. They are Levi, Wilson Shannon, Emeline, George, Jacob, John, and Edward.
