Good morning, The 1840 census lists only the head of household by name, so Recompense who would have only been 4, wouldn't be listed. But I found 2 Collins names who are living in Rush Co., Posey Twp.
William Collins 1 male (5-10) 1 male (10-15) 1 male (30-40) 1 female (5-10) 2 females (10-15) 1 female (15-20) 1 female (20-30)

James Collins 1 male (5-10) 1 male (10-15) 1 male (15-20) 1 male (50-60) 1 female (5) 1 female (5-10) 2 female (10-15) 1 female (15-20) 1 female (40-50).

I am not saying that the people on the 1850 census ARE connected, but it sure seems like a strong possiblity since they are living so close to each other and the use of so many middle names with a single person, it is certainly an avenue of search for you. Check out Rush Co which is just SE of Hancock. I am really happy to be of help.
